I’ve been to Italy twice, Spain, and France, but never been to the UK in my life. It’s time to go. The flights have been booked.
I read a couple of guidebooks yesterday and realized there are too many places to visit for 9 days trip. Here are some places that I should go during this journey:
- London – apparently
- Cotswolds – must-see
- Edinburgh – the castles remind me a video game Dragon Quest that I used to play when I was a kid
I am not sure if I have time to go the following places because of the limited time to travel:
- Lake District – I love beautiful natures
- Liverpool – known as the Beatles town
It’s always fun to plan the trip. Hope it goes well.

Especially in winter, Mt. Fuji is so visible from lot of place including my neighbour. It is seen small in the picture, but actually much more outstanding.
There is no high mountain around Mt. Fuji. That’s why you can see it very beautiful and can spot at first sight. The air is clear in winter and Mt. Fuji covered by snow. Nothing is more beautiful than the mountain. I got this picture on my running course.
My colleagues planed birthday lunch and took me to Brazilian BBQ restaurant because they know I love eating meats. I turned 40, but still eat like 20 years old man. 🙂
One of my favorite poem is Samuel Ullman’s “YOUTH”. It is perfect day to read it again today:
Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite, for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of sixty more than a body of twenty. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.
Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.
Whether sixty or sixteen, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing child-like appetite of what’s next, and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite, so long are you young.
When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at twenty, but as long as your aerials are up, to catch the waves of optimism, there is hope you may die young at eighty.
I’m not so crazy about romantic things such as beautiful illumination, but this was pretty good even to me. There were many illumination area which are designed by a famous light designer and this is one of them. French flag themed design by blue, white and red lights. There was even the Arc de Triomphe over there. I just traveled in France last August, so remembered the beautiful scenery of Paris. You can see this at Yomiuri Land. It is not convenient access if you stay in the center of Tokyo, but might be worth visiting. I visited in December, but this will continue by February if I remember correctly.
I’m turning 40 in a few days.
20 is the adult age here in Japan. So, I’m becoming “double adult”! I still feel like 20, though.
And I wondered if I have anything to do in my thirties within the rest of the days, but did not come up anything.
I will enjoy turning 40 with thanking my health both in physical and mental. Hope to spend next two decades with good fit.
My friend visited me this evening. We went to a hamburger restaurant and had this big – 400 grams meat and cheese much enough to make it dip in. Look at and compare the size of egg with the hamburger.
We became happy to have such huge hamburger!
During the new year’s break, I had a short trip in Izu peninsula, specifically Osezaki in Numazu. I stumbled upon this cute bay when I drive along the coast.
This is exaggerated, but I thought it looked like a beach which I saw in the movie The Beach. Hopefully, I can come back here in summer.
